Events and Programs
The Friends of SCNP provide lots of events that might bring understanding, joy, and a sense of contribution. If you have a Facebook account, we recommend you follow us there and sign up as “going” when you see an event you plan to attend.
If you would like to see some of our past events, we generally include a summary of the previous month’s events in our newsletter. You can find issues at our newsletter page – and you can subscribe for free.
Know Your Nature Neighbors
On Saturday morning during the City Nature Challenge, we will take a walk at the preserve and look for flowers, insects, lizards hanging out in the trees, the trees themselves, and all the other wonderful lives at the preserve. We will be documenting what we find in iNaturalist, adding to the total number of observations for City Nature Challenge.
Please register as “going” by emailing us at events@friendsofscnp.org or find the event on our Facebook page if you plan to join us, because we need to plan for how many will attend. Remember to bring water! And a camera, if you like. We will show you how to use iNaturalist on your smartphone if you are new to the app – or you could just walk with us without using iNaturalist.
The walk is planned from 9:00-10:30am. We sometimes run a little overtime, but we’ll make sure you get back to the parking lot by 10:30 if you need to. And if you are recording observations for City Nature Challenge and want to keep going, then you’re absolutely welcome to stay as long as you wish (until 10pm!).
